This project aims at collecting, organizing and analyzing statistical data relating to cooperatives at the national and European levels, through a collaborative process with other research centres in Italy and abroad, so as to create an integrated and constantly up to date data warehouse. The data will allow for the periodical publication of statistical reports at the national and European levels, thereby facilitating a better understanding of the economic and social value of this particular type of business on the part of the various stakeholders.
The main pillar for the construction of the datawarehouse is the Bureau Van Dijk’s Aida database, which was complemented by public archives. The project relied in particular on the official Chamber of commerce’s Business register and the regional rolls of social cooperatives, which were used to verify and complete the data.
The information collected into the datawarehouse was the foundation for the development of the first edition of the Official report on cooperation in Italy, which is a prototype for the kind of publication that the Observatory will compile each year, as part of a series that is currently being developed. The objective for the next few years is to extend the activity and the field of study to cooperatives in the main European countries through the creation of a network of European research centres.
Finally, the Observatory manages the databases developed by Euricse’s researchers within the various research projects carried out by the Institute.
Questo gruppo di ricerca ha curato il primo rapporto nazionale sulle cooperative contiene e analizza i dati annuali provenienti prevalentemente da fonti ufficiali di tipo contabile e amministrativo sulle caratteristiche anagrafiche, settoriali, economiche, finanziarie e occupazionali di ogni cooperativa attiva in Italia.
