Cooperatives Europe - Euricse collaboration

Klaus Niederländer, Director of Cooperatives Europe, visited Euricse last week. He discussed mutual projects and future collaboration with the staff of Euricse. In the afternoon he also met with representatives from the Federazione Trentina della Cooperazione. The new director of Cooperatives Europe, an organization which is also one of five founding members of Euricse and a very important partner, talked about the activities planned by Cooperatives Europe for 2011, the forthcoming convention in Moscow and proposed initiatives for the UN's 2012 International Year of Cooperatives.

The new director of Cooperatives Europe was appointed in November 2010. He has a professional background in enterprise development via his experience as a financial analyst, management consultant and SME programme manager in Europe, Africa and the USA (with a Master's degree in European Economics and a BA in Business). He has hands-on experience developing cooperative enterprises and movements in various countries in Africa (e.g. in the artisanal textile sector and for the development of fair trade cotton). Cooperative development has deep roots in his family’s history with their involvement in the creation and development of the local cooperative banking and agricultural sector in the South Western part of Germany.
