The International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) &#8211; with the\u00a0scientific and technical support of Euricse &#8211; launches the 2013 report of its global\u00a0statistical project: The World Co-operative Monitor. In this new edition the Report\u00a0have been enriched with a new feature: a ranking list based on ratio turnover on the\u00a0gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report has been developed thanks to the support of the U.S. Overseas\u00a0Cooperative Development Council (OCDC) and of the Fundacion Espriu. The project\u00a0saw the creation of an extensive network of research institutes and agencies with the\u00a0aim to collect data about co-operatives worldwide and demonstrate the economic and\u00a0social impact of the largest cooperative and mutual organizations worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The research team launched\u00a0the pilot study of the World\u00a0Co-operative Monitor in 2012,\u00a0collecting economic and social\u00a0data on the world\u2019s largest\u00a0cooperatives and mutuals as\u00a0of 2010. This year, the Report\u00a0investigates the evolution of\u00a0the panorama in 2011.<br \/>\nOf the biggest 300\u00a0cooperatives and mutuals\u00a0surveyed, the total turnover is\u00a02,098.6 billion USD. These top 300 organizations are distributed in 23 countries\u00a0around the world and are primarily in the insurance sector (41%), agriculture and\u00a0food industries (28%), and the consumer and retail sector (21%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/euricse.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Factscomments2013-06.15.pdf\">Read the executive summary<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cape Town, November 2013.
