2022 Highlights<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We would like to share with you some of the highlights of these past twelve months, during which we have strengthened our research, consulting and training activities on highly relevant and topical issues, both established and new ones. This year was also witness to the\u00a0renewal\u00a0<\/strong>of the\u00a0Board of Directors<\/strong>\u00a0and the passing of the baton from\u00a0Carlo Borzaga<\/strong>\u00a0to the\u00a0newly confirmed President of Euricse<\/a>,\u00a0Mario Diani.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our research developments<\/strong><\/p>\n

We continued our research on\u00a0measuring the dimensions of the social economy<\/strong>, publishing the new\u00a0Report on Trentino Cooperatives<\/a>\u00a0and the eleventh\u00a0World Cooperative Monitor<\/a>\u00a0with the International Cooperative Alliance.
\nWe explored new dimensions of\u00a0the role of the social economy<\/strong>\u00a0with the first\u00a0Report on Enterprising Communities<\/a>, a study on nine types of community-based civic engagement initiatives developing across Italy and a new research report dedicated to the role of Third Sector organizations in the delivery of\u00a0healthcare and social welfare services in Italy<\/a>
\nOn the topic of\u00a0work integration,\u00a0<\/strong>we oversaw the\u00a0research report of the B-Wise project<\/a>, conducted in\u00a0partnership with two major European networks (ENSIE and EASPD), and twenty-eight other partners from thirteen EU countries. We also kicked-off and produced a research report for the\u00a0Momentum project<\/a>, co-funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, with a focus on the socio-economic integration of migrant and refugee women through the social economy.
\nAs part of a broader\u00a0international cooperation\u00a0<\/strong>project, together with CIRIEC-Brasil, we presented a\u00a0bilingual report<\/a>\u00a0on new opportunities for shared development \u00a0through analysis of case studies in Brasil and Trentino.
\nWe explored the themes of\u00a0collaborative welfare systems<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0local development,<\/strong>\u00a0proposing studies and reflections on tools for strengthening social and health services delivered in a territorial and integrated manner, on co-design and co-programming services for the community, and on forms of\u00a0financing and policies<\/strong>\u00a0to support the social economy.
\nWith some pride, we can also say that we have contributed to enriching the\u00a0Encyclopedia of the Social and Solidarity Economy<\/a>\u00a0published by the United Nations Observatory on the Social and Solidarity Economy, with three articles on\u00a0social economy finance<\/strong>\u00a0and the role of\u00a0social economy organizations<\/strong>\u00a0in the reception of\u00a0migrants.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

From theory to business practices<\/strong><\/p>\n

As is inherent in our mission, we have sought to apply our\u00a0research<\/strong>\u00a0results\u00a0<\/strong>to the support of\u00a0business practices<\/strong>, strengthening our\u00a0consulting activities<\/strong>\u00a0on social impact measurement, strategic planning, and network development.
\nWe have been involved in numerous strategic consulting projects for social enterprises and other Third Sector organizations, such as those in Piedmont and Liguria funded by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation for organizational development plans, or in Lecco for the design of a new type of social-occupational service, in Bergamo to work on the skills of consortium managers, in Trento on the structuring of Solidarity Economy Districts, among many others. 2022 has also seen the advancement of the activities of the\u00a0SEED project<\/a>, for which we are contributing to the design of evaluation methodologies for\u00a0social innovation<\/strong>\u00a0projects.
\nWe have supported more than 200 organizations throughout Italy, including social cooperatives, consortia and associations, in conducting\u00a0social impact assessment<\/strong>, using the\u00a0ImpACT Method,<\/a>\u00a0which is also available to all Third Sector entities large and small, either as individual organizations or networks.<\/p>\n

Engaging training activities<\/strong><\/p>\n

We also invested in new\u00a0training projects\u00a0<\/strong>about cooperative entrepreneurship, like\u00a0Coop Mindset<\/a>, with the Universities of Trento, Bolzano and Palermo and others, and\u00a0Feel Coop<\/a>, designed especially for young students.
\nIn order to strengthen cooperative business training worldwide, Euricse has been taking an active role in the\u00a0International Co-operative Business Education Consortium<\/strong>\u00a0(ICBEC) and has joined as a full member. During the last months we have participated in the activities of\u00a0the consortium and in the working group as well as served as the secretariat.
\nWith the decades of experience of the\u00a0Master GIS<\/a>\u00a0program (the 27th edition kicked off this October), this year we created an\u00a0online course<\/a>\u00a0and a\u00a0multimedia guide<\/a>\u00a0on the topic of managing social enterprises.
\nRegarding events, we successfully organized the 13th\u00a0International Workshop on Cooperative and Responsible Finance for Development<\/a>\u00a0and a training day focused on collaborative welfare in partnership with Erickson, a prelude to new collaborations and new training activities.<\/p>\n

In the forefront when it comes to the social economy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Always taking an active role in the national and international public debate, we signed with the\u00a0National Economic and Labor Council<\/strong>\u00a0a collaboration agreement to spread the growth of the social economy in Italy and measure its social and productive impact. We have also been involved in the main\u00a0Italian conferences<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0festivals<\/strong>\u00a0dedicated to the economy and society. Among these, in\u00a0Trento on July 15<\/a>,\u00a0was the inaugural conference of the activities of the Monitoring Committee of the Luxembourg Declaration on Social and Solidarity Economy in Europe, whose presidency was assigned to Italy for 2022.\u00a0Also, bringing expertise derived from over a decade of research and analysis on topics related to the social economy, and the reflections arising from our presence at the international level, we contributed to the establishment in Italy of an Alliance among all organizations working in the Social Economy. The resulting\u00a0Manifesto for the Social Economy<\/strong>\u00a0was presented by the\u00a0Alliance of Italian Cooperatives<\/a>\u00a0in Bologna,\u00a0describing the new social and economic scenarios,\u00a0intended to contribute to the Commission Recommendation to the European Council on the social economy in 2023. At the international level we\u00a0continued our work within the European Commission Expert Group on Social Economy and Social Enterprises (GECES<\/strong>) and in the United Nations Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE). We are members of the\u00a0EU Pact for Skills<\/a>\u00a0and look forward to contributing actively to the 2023 European Year of Skills. This year we also contributed to the EU Commission’s work on the\u00a0Transition Pathway for Proximity and Social Economy<\/a>\u00a0through analysis of survey results and contributions to the reports outlining actions to support and foster the green and digital transition for the social and proximity economy.<\/p>\n

Last but not least<\/strong>… to improve our ability to disseminate our research and communicate our activities, we updated our\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0and added an\u00a0Instagram profile<\/a>\u00a0to the list of our social channels.
\nThe website for the Journal of Entrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity (JEOD<\/a>), Euricse’s international scientific journal, was also renewed. Another issue of the journal was just recently published, along with five original contributions for Euricse’s\u00a0Working Paper series<\/a>.<\/p>\n
