Cooperative organizations are effective in provisioning for myriad life needs, and do so in more democratic and sustainable ways than investor-owned firms.<br \/>\nRooted in the unique principles and values that distinguish them from other business types, cooperatives, in a nutshell, embody what has been called \u201cthe cooperative advantage\u201d. <!--more--><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3320 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/euricse.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/jeod-special-issue-278x400.jpg\" alt=\"jeod special issue\" width=\"278\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/euricse.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/jeod-special-issue-278x400.jpg 278w, https:\/\/euricse.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/jeod-special-issue-208x300.jpg 208w, https:\/\/euricse.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/jeod-special-issue.jpg 596w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px\" \/>This special issue of the Journal of Entrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity, \u201cThe Cooperative Advantage for Community Development\u201d, was organized to highlight <strong>the myriad roles that cooperatives can and do have in protecting and developing communities<\/strong>, as well as the possible tensions and challenges that emerge in the process.<br \/>\nIncluding <strong>seven articles from established and upcoming cooperative studies scholars<\/strong>, the special issue critically assesses diverse experiences of co-ops deployed for community development.
