Participate in the 2016 World Co-operative Monitor!

21 April 2016

Euricse and the International Co-operative Alliance are inviting co-operatives to complete the World Co-operative Monitor survey available online before the 30 April 2016 deadline (postponed to the 20th of May)

Since 2011, Euricse has been collaborating with the International Co-operative Alliance to research the economic and social impact of the largest cooperatives in the world. Euricse’s contribution has been critical to the evolution of this ambitious project, in fact, in recent years, the methodological framework has been updated to investigate more effectively the cooperative movement.

These measures have improved the knowledge we have of the cooperative movement, especially with regard to the economic and social impact of cooperatives in the communities where they operate.
WCM_logo_HDThanks to the research conducted by Euricse, a unique database has been developed dedicated to the cooperative movement, which serves as a fundamental starting point for researchers and academics who want to explore issues related to the world of cooperatives. The World Co-operative Monitor has also proven to be an effective tool for bringing the impact of the cooperative movement to the attention of policymakers.

Despite the results already achieved, in the coming years the project will continue in the direction of expanding the database, with the aim to increase both the number of monitored cooperatives and the information available for each organization studied.

The most important change in the 2016 edition of the World Co-operative Monitor is the introduction of a new section of the survey about the sources of capital and the capital structure of co-operatives, building off of the work done by the International Co-operative Alliance on cooperative capital.

The results of the survey will be presented this year during the International Summit in Quebec in October 2016.

The main results of the previous editions of the World Co-operative Monitor are available on our blog and at www.monitor.coop.

Please take a little time to your cooperative’s data for the 2016 edition of the Monitor. Federations and supporters of the movement are encouraged to mobilize their network of cooperatives to complete the questionnaire.
