Due to the successes of this country’s economic and social model, social economy thinking and practice has lagged behind other nations in Switzerland. It is only in the last two decades that forms of social enterprise or job placement with characteristics akin to those of European social enterprises have emerged, particularly at the initiative of nonprofit entities and organizations.
This article presents the main findings of an exploratory study of the social enterprise sector in Switzerland, funded by the National Science Research Fund, focusing on the purpose of job placement of vulnerable people.
