Thereport aims to examine the role and impact of social cooperatives in the Italian context, focusing on user engagement and benefits from the services provided by these organizations. It seeks to bridge the existing informational gap regarding the relationship between social cooperatives and their users, analyzing how these cooperatives meet the needs of disadvantaged user groups and actively involve them in decision-making processes.

By utilizing data from the Nonprofit Institutions Census, the project aims to provide a detailed overview of the beneficiaries of services offered by social cooperatives and to formulate policy recommendations aimed at enhancing user engagement and the social and economic value generated by these organizations.

This paper is part of the Third Euricse | 2015 report “Cooperative Economy. Relevance, evolution and new frontiers of Italian cooperation.”
