Youth, activism and the social economy in Tuscany: trends, challenges and contrasts
This report stems from the Memorandum of Understanding between Euricse and Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation (MPS) as part of the IKIGAI Social Hub project. This project aims to support business ideas that address social, economic, environmental and cultural challenges, with a focus on social economy development. Sponsored by the MPS Foundation in collaboration with Pluriversum and Euricse, IKIGAI Social Hub targets groups and individuals motivated to create innovative solutions for collective well-being.
The research, conducted by Euricse, is a preliminary step in the IKIGAI Social Hub project. It is aimed at exploring the socio-economic context of the provinces of Siena and Arezzo and aligning the development of the local social economy with European policies.
The methodology includes a literature review, an examination of statistical and administrative data on the social economy in Tuscany, and field research, with focus groups and interviews with various actors in the sector (social organizations, institutions, and youth). The result is a mapping of key actors and trends, with a focus on social enterprise and youth involvement, to guide future project activities.
