Measuring Cooperatives: implementing the ILO Guidelines
1 October 2025
Reliable data are essential to understanding the role of cooperatives in decent work and sustainable development. The study “Implementing the ILO Guidelines Concerning Statistics of Cooperatives: Insights from Five Countries (2025)” illustrates how to put into practice the first international statistical standard on cooperatives, adopted by the ILO in 2018. Drawing on experiences from Costa Rica, Italy, South Korea, Türkiye, and Tanzania, the report provides practical recommendations to strengthen cooperative statistics.
The Italy chapter was authored by our senior researcher Chiara Carini, together with Massimo Lori (ISTAT). A summary of the study is now available on the ILO website.
