Social Economy and Rural Development: the new ESIRA report is online

The report ‘The Contribution of Community-led Social Economy Initiatives to Local Development in Rural Areas‘, produced by EURICSE as part of the European project ESIRA – Enhancing Social Innovation in Rural Areas (Horizon Europe) is now online. The document analyses the role of the social economy in the partner countries (Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Hungary), highlighting how community-led initiatives can make a tangible contribution to the development of rural areas. Through significant local case studies, the report underscores the concrete role played by social economy organisations in addressing rural challenges by fostering employment, strengthening local services and resources, supporting strategic economic activities, and promoting social cohesion and social innovation. Overall, the report highlights the key role of the social economy as a driver of sustainable and participatory local development.
