International conferences put social economy research in the spotlight

3 August 2026

In the coming months, research on the social economy will be at the centre of numerous national and international events, bringing together scholars, researchers and sector professionals to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen the dialogue between research and practice. Several EURICSE researchers will also take part in these initiatives.
In Italy, the Scientific Colloquium on Social Enterprise (Siena, 23–24 October 2026), promoted by the journal Impresa Sociale with the organisational support of EURICSE and IKIGAI Social Hub, and the contribution of  Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation and Cattolica Foundation, will provide an important opportunity for discussion among researchers, social enterprises and Third Sector organisations. The opening session will feature a key note speech by Jean-Louis Laville, one of the leading scholars in the field of the social and solidarity economy and among the founders of the European research network EMES.  You can register for the Colloquium and view the conference topics via this link.
At the international level, key events include the 35th CIRIEC International Congress (Montréal, 5-8 October 2026) and the ICA CCR Europe Research Conference (Valencia, 3-6 November 2026), which will address the most relevant current issues in the social and cooperative economy.
