New features in the upcoming World Co-operative Monitor report

The 5th edition of the World Co-operative Monitor, an initiative of the International Co-operative Alliance and Euricse, will be published this fall and presented by Gianluca Salvatori at the International Summit of Cooperatives on October 11, 2016 in Quebec, Canada. What is the contribution to citizens’ health by cooperatives?

The kick-off meeting of the research project “Health cooperatives and mutuals worldwide – analysis of the contribution to citizens’ health by cooperatives around the world” managed by Euricse in collaboration with IHCO will be held on Friday, July 8 in Madrid, at the headquarters of Asisa (a health insurance cooperative, member of the Fundación Espriu and co-founder of IHCO). The research project examines both members and users of health cooperatives and studies the way in which health cooperatives operate in and contribute to the welfare system of their country. It aims to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis on health cooperatives and the systems in which they operate. Read More

JEOD is calling for papers on ​ worker cooperatives

JEOD, the Journal of Entrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity, is planning an issue for the end of 2016 entirely devoted to worker cooperatives. Submitted papers will go through the standard refereeing process and an overall number of 5 to 8 papers will be selected for this issue. Read More

New strategies for Co-operatives

The International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) 2016 international research conference “New strategies for Co-operatives: Understanding and Managing Co-operative Creation” will be held from the 24th to the 27th of May in the Palacio del Congresos en El Toyo, Almeria, Spain. Euricse contributed to the scientific planning of the event and eight researchers will attend the conference. Giulia Galera, Jacopo Sforzi, Carlo Borzaga, Chiara Carini, Michela Giovannini, Silvia Sacchetti, Eddi Fontanari and Yiorgos Alexopoulos will present their research with nine papers during five different sessions. Moreover, Giulia Galera and Jacopo Sforzi will coordinate a special session dedicated to “The role of Cooperatives in promoting the interest of the community”  (Wednesday the 25th of May, 11:15-13:00), while another session coordinated by Giulia Galera will be dedicated to the European project INT.RE.COOP (Friday the 27th of May, 9:00-10:30). Participate in the 2016 World Co-operative Monitor!

Euricse and the International Co-operative Alliance are inviting co-operatives to complete the World Co-operative Monitor survey available online before the 30 April 2016 deadline (postponed to the 20th of May) Since 2011, Euricse has been collaborating with the International Co-operative Alliance to research the economic and social impact of the largest cooperatives in the world. Euricse's contribution has been critical to the evolution of this ambitious project, in fact, in recent years, the methodological framework has been updated to investigate more effectively the cooperative movement. These measures have improved the knowledge we have of the cooperative movement, especially with regard to the economic and social impact of cooperatives in the communities where they operate.
