Solidarity economy, institutions and market transformation

As part of the ECPR General Conference 2026, Francesca Forno (University of Trento) and Michela Giovannini (EURICSE) co-organised a panel exploring the relationship between the solidarity economy, institutions and market transformation. The panel brought together four research contributions: Giovannini’s study of the Catalan case and three studies focusing on Italian experiences in the food sector, inland areas and the commons. At the centre of the discussion was the tension between the transformative potential of the solidarity economy and the risk of institutional isomorphism.
