From Africa to Italy: Kenyan delegation on study visit on cooperative credit

22 July 2025

From 17th to 21st of July, a delegation of representatives of Kenyan cooperative banks participated in a training activity in Trento as part of the “Learn and Share Cooperative Exchange” initiative, promoted by EURICSE in cooperation with ACCOSCA – African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations.

The two days alternated between theoretical lectures, led by experts in the field, and field visits to significant cooperative credit and local development realities.

During the classroom sessions, participants had the opportunity to learn about the activities of EURICSE and to deepen their understanding of the strategic role of cooperation in the territory, thanks to the interventions of researchers and professionals from EURICSE and the Trentino Federation of Cooperatives.

Particularly appreciated were the visits to the Cassa Rurale Val di Non Rotaliana e GiovoCassa Rurale Valsugana e Tesino and the Valtes Foundation.

During the meetings, the mutual, social and cultural activities supported by the funds were illustrated, with a special focus on projects dedicated to young people and sustainable development of the territory.

The programme concluded with a visit to  Dolomiti Hub, a regenerated and multifunctional space that promotes culture, creativity and social cohesion.

The shared experiences were enthusiastically welcomed and confirm the value of international training courses aimed at promoting the cooperative model, even beyond European borders.
