Social cooperation: economic and employment dynamics between 2008 and 2013
This report aims to examine the performance of social cooperatives in Italy from 2008 to 2013, focusing on their economic and employment dynamics during the period of the economic crisis. Building on previous observations regarding the growing importance of social cooperatives in the Italian economic landscape, the goal is to extend the temporal analysis to provide a comprehensive view of their performance up to 2013, the last year available for data analysis.
To accomplish this, data from two sources are used: the Aida-Bureau van Dijk database and INPS archives. Data on the economic size of social cooperatives in 2013 and their economic dynamics from 2008 to 2013 are obtained from the Aida-Bureau van Dijk database, taking into consideration the value of production and employment income. On the other hand, for the analysis of employment in the sector, both in 2013 and during 2008-2013, INPS data are used, which include social security positions activated by social cooperatives for permanent, fixed-term and parasubordinate workers.
