Final Study on the implementation of the Regulation 1435/2003 on the Statute for European Cooperative Society (SCE) Part 2
This study aims at analysing the implementation of Regulation (EC) No 1435/2003 in the EU Member States and the EEA countries (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). The focus is on the rules applied to the European Cooperative Society (SCE), national cooperative legislation and the impact of the SCE statute on national laws and the promotion of cooperatives in Europe.
The SCE project was conducted under a service contract between the European Commission’s DG Enterprise and Industry and a consortium led by Cooperatives Europe, EKAI Center and Euricse.
The project mainly addresses two main topics from a legal point of view: Regulation 1435/2003 on the Statute for a European Co-operative Society and the national laws on co-operatives of the 30 countries involved. Although these topics are interconnected, the study treats them with a degree of independence, with the aim of providing a comprehensive overview of cooperative law in Europe to support the European Commission’s 2004 objectives for the promotion of cooperative societies.
The second part of this final study contains, ordered by country, the national reports of the national experts involved in this research; each national report was drafted according to the guidelines provided by the scientific committee to ensure uniformity of contributions and the presence of relevant information on both the implementation of the SCE legislation and national cooperative legislation.
