Financial mechanisms for innovative social and solidarity economy ecosystems: The case of Italy

This study presents an analysis of the social and solidarity economy (SSE) in Italy and the financial mechanisms available to Italian SSE organizations to finance their operations and investments. The analysis is based on the latest available data and research and aims to present an up-to-date snapshot of the Italian SSE ecosystem in all its different components, focusing in particular on the issue of finance for SSE. The picture that emerges from the work is one of a highly diversified and resilient sector with a variety of financial instruments at its disposal. Although negatively impacted by the COVID crisis, the Italian SSE is poised to play an important role in the recovery effort.
