Euricse, on behalf of the European Commission (DG GROW – Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), conducted a study on the implementation of the European Cooperative Society (SCE) Regulation in the 30 EU/EEA Member States.

This Synthesis report presents the results of the project entitled ‘Summary Report and Preparation of a Workshop on Council Regulation (EC) No 1435/2003 of 22 July 2003 – Statute for a European Cooperative Society (SCE)’. The report assesses the current state of implementation of the Statute for a European Cooperative Society in the 30 EU/EEA Member States. The report maps existing SCEs, analyses the factors influencing their creation and offers policy recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the legislation. Key issues include legal aspects, such as limited liability for members and the possibility to transfer the registered office, as well as implementation and awareness-raising challenges at national level.

The Report was drafted by Euricse’s Senior Research Fellow Professor Antonio Fici (University of Rome “Tor Vergata”) with the contribution of Gianluca Salvatori (Euricse Secretary General) and Barbara Franchini (Euricse Senior Project Manager).
