Towards a system of indicators to define the “good” rural fund
This report presents the work conducted during the Cooperative Credit Workshop throughout 2011, an initiative promoted by Euricse in collaboration with the Trentino Federation of Cooperatives. The main objective of the Workshop was to define a shared profile of what constitutes a “good rural bank” in the current economic and social context, in order to assess, as objectively as possible, the performance of rural banks in Trentino compared to this ideal model.
The report is structured into three main parts. The first part outlines the process followed and the criteria adopted for developing the indicator system, as well as the overall structure of this system and the indices comprising it. Subsequently, the second part illustrates the methodology used to apply this system to the rural banks in the province of Trento and presents the main results obtained from the analysis. Finally, the third part of the report provides a series of practical recommendations for implementing the developed indicator system and using it effectively for the benefit of the involved rural banks.
