Based on 2021 financial data, this twelfth edition of the World Cooperative Monitor, edited by Euricse and the International Cooperative Alliance, explores the economic and social impact of major global cooperatives, presenting a ranking of the Top 300 by sector, including employment data. In a dynamic context in which the social role of cooperatives is increasingly evident, moreover, the 2023 edition highlights the benefits offered by these organizations to their members and delves into the communication strategy adopted to convey the identity of cooperatives and their ability to add value.

Looking at the data, internationally, France’s Groupe Crédit Agricole and Groupe BPCE rank first and third among the top 300 global cooperatives, while Germany’s REWE is second in the organized distribution sector. Among the top 300 global cooperatives by turnover, thirteen are Italian.
