Non-profit companies (NPAs) are particular organizations whose institutional objective is not the creation of profit in an economic sense but the maximization of the social value produced for the benefit of the community of reference. This value is intangible in nature and its definition and measurement depend fundamentally on the perception of the various stakeholders influenced by it in various ways. The working paper highlights the importance of stakeholder engagement processes for the definition and measurement of performance indicators: the social value produced is such, in fact, only if perceived by the stakeholders involved.
