Social cooperatives that employ hard-to-employ people are an important reality, although still little recognized by Italian labor policies. In fact, there are more than 5,800 enterprises with about 90,000 employees that employ nearly 35,000 people with serious employment difficulties on a regular basis each year, with modest public support but generating significant savings for the state. The result of research on a large sample of these cooperatives and the network contracts signed by them, the book aims to identify the ways necessary to stabilize and strengthen the relationships between social cooperatives for job placement and between them and private companies, analyzing in particular the possibility and conditions for using the network contract and the institutions it provides for – including facilitated detachment and codatoriality -, with the specific aim of facilitating the work integration of people with employment difficulties.
