The World Co-operative Monitor 2016 is the fifth edition of the annual research report produced by the International Co-operative Alliance (the Alliance) with the scientific and technical support of Euricse. The research, widely considered the primary source for global statistics on the economic dimensions of the co-operative movement, includes a new feature in 2016: an analysis of the capital structure of the Top 300 co-operative enterprises. "Could networking be a way to empower social enterprises in Serbia?" was the title of a full day training dedicated to social enterprises that was held in Belgrade on October 7th. The event is organised as a part of Aleksandra Bobic's secondment in the "Zip Centar za mlade biznis inkubator DOO" Pirot - Serbia within the C-BIRD project and is supported by all the main actors involved in the promotion of social enterprises in Serbia participating in the Coalition for the development of social enterprises. The research "Health cooperatives and mutuals worldwide - an analysis of the contribution to citizens' health by cooperatives around the world" will be launched during sectorial meeting on "Health and Social Services - The Cooperatives' Way" on the occasion of the International Summit of Cooperatives, which will be held in Quebec City. On October 12, Gianluca Salvatori will present the study, which is aimed to analyze the contribution of health cooperatives and mutuals to the promotion of citizens’ health within different national welfare systems. On that day, Euricse Secretary General, Gianluca Salvatori, will present some of the key findings in a round table at the International Summit of Cooperatives in Quebec, Canada. A Call for Papers has just been launched for full papers exploring such questions, and a range of others under this broad theme, are welcome, and should be submitted by 31 December 2016. The kick-off meeting of the research project “Health cooperatives and mutuals worldwide – analysis of the contribution to citizens’ health by cooperatives around the world” managed by Euricse in collaboration with IHCO will be held on Friday, July 8 in Madrid, at the headquarters of Asisa (a health insurance cooperative, member of the Fundación Espriu and co-founder of IHCO). The research project examines both members and users of health cooperatives and studies the way in which health cooperatives operate in and contribute to the welfare system of their country. It aims to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis on health cooperatives and the systems in which they operate. Read More

The International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) 2016 international research conference “New strategies for Co-operatives: Understanding and Managing Co-operative Creation” will be held from the 24th to the 27th of May in the Palacio del Congresos en El Toyo, Almeria, Spain.Euricse contributed to the scientific planning of the event and eight researchers will attend the conference. Giulia Galera, Jacopo Sforzi, Carlo Borzaga, Chiara Carini, Michela Giovannini, Silvia Sacchetti, Eddi Fontanari and Yiorgos Alexopoulos will present their research with nine papers during five different sessions.
